Owl line drawing on a light blue background, with amorphous teal shapes and red lines. Text reads: Curious Bioethics: Curated Bioethics for Curious Humans

Hi There,

Thanks for being a subscriber to Poppies & Propofol! I started this newsletter to write about the many things I find interesting and exciting in medicine - my experiences in anesthesiology, pediatrics, ethics, storytelling, communication, and health policy.

But I realize I want a little nook just for bioethics content. So I’m launching a new section to Poppies & Propofol called Curious Bioethics. Just like P&P, Curious Bioethics will land directly in your inbox. I hope this new format makes you curious about ethics issues as I am.

Bioethics for Curious Humans

In our society, scientists and the public often rush wildly ahead with new technology without considering the broader implications. There are ethical implications to almost every healthcare and health policy decision, and I want to explore them with you and for you. I’ll do the hard work of bringing disparate bioethics, social, cultural, and political ideas together and put them in your inbox.

I’ll pull ethics cases from the news, gather public educational opportunities, and share what I’ve been reading. Each week, I’ll distill these down into something you can browse over a cup of coffee.

Poppies & Propofol: Curious Bioethics is a reader-supported publication. Subscribe to receive new posts and support this work. 🙏❤️

Every few weeks, I’ll send you a deeper dive into an ethics issue that’s gotten me feeling curious.

What other changes are happening?

I’ve heard from several folks interested in the ability to comment on posts.

So, the while all the main content in both Poppies & Propofol and Curious Bioethics will remain free, you now have the option to leave comments as a paid subscriber.

If you would like this benefit but cannot contribute financially, just email me for free access. No questions asked. No need to explain yourself (seriously).

Thanks for reading! I hope this new format and focus resonate with you. If so, please share Poppies & Propofol and Curious Bioethics with your friends.
